Jakob Bragg

Jakob Bragg (b. 1990) is an Australian composer, born and raised in the subtropics, he now resides in the temperate south of Melbourne. 

Creating highly detailed and excessively ornamental works, often with incessant pitch centres and microtonal inflections, Jakob has worked primarily with new music specialists. His music has been performed across Australia, Europe and throughout Southeast Asia, featured in festivals such as Impuls, Metropolis, BEAF, 2High, and broadcast via the radio and the world wide web. 

Jakob has participated in composer development programmes such as the Impuls Academy, Symphony Australia TSO Composers’ School, Arts Centre’s 5x5x5, Tilde Academy Festival, and AYO’s National Music Camp. 

Currently undertaking a Master of Music at the University of Melbourne (MCM) with Elliott Gyger, Jakob previously studied with Liza Lim, and at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University with Gerard Brophy. Other composition mentors have included Chris Dench, Enno Poppe, Simon Steen-Anderson and Klaus Lang.
